Marc Chillemi is a Portland-based musician and composer active in Jazz and roots music from the Caribbean and West Africa. For 30 years Marc has amassed a considerable list of performances and recordings across a wide range of styles and genres. Marc has performed as a guest with international recording artists including Orchestra Baobab, The Satellites, Alton Ellis, Slavic Soul Party, Antibalas, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, G.Love & Special Sauce, and John Popper.

Originally from New York, Marc moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, where he earned a BA in Jazz Composition. In 2011, Marc completed a Masters degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Maine’s School of Music. Marc continued to further his interests in ethnomusicology and his research resulted in what he calls, Musical Migrations. Currently, Marc resides on Westport Island in mid-coast Maine and continues to perform throughout New England with his band Raging Brass and Primo Cubano. Marc’s aspirations to share his growing passion and knowledge, with students and the public of all ages and cultural backgrounds, continues through his research and musical experiences.
